What is Art Therapy?

Art therapy combines creative expression with therapeutic conversation. It can offer another way to explore thoughts, feelings and experiences that may be difficult to express through words alone.

There is no need to be "good at art". The focus is not on producing a finished artwork, but on the process of creating, noticing and expressing.

How I Work

I work in a responsive, person-centred way, combining therapeutic conversation with art-making. Sometimes words lead the process, at other times colour, materials, images or the act of creating can express something that is harder to say directly.

Rather than following a fixed activity or expecting a particular outcome, I offer space to explore materials, ideas and experiences in a way that feels right for each person. The artwork is not judged or interpreted from the outside, instead we become curious about the process together.

My practice is influenced by Open Studio principles, where the creative process itself can support expression, reflection and emotional processing.
